CONSENSUS STATEMENT - strengths/weaknesses of the 6 + 1 Traits model:

We all thought that the 6 + 1 trait writing system was wonderful. It is a powerful system to help students' writing and an easier way to assess students' writing for teachers; for the reason that it allows them to concentrate on one aspect of writing like its ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, or presentation. It helps students improve their writing skills. While helping teachers become consistent in assessing the work. It gives clear and precise objectives. We all thought that the 6 + 1 trait writing system gives students the tools necessary to become successful writers.
